The aim:
SWARCO are world-leaders in e-mobility and sustainable transport solutions. As well as being major players in the global EV market, they design and build traffic signs, barriers, car park equipment and sensors.
- Develop and scale: SWARCO Smart Charging EV software, app and website to support a 300% uplift in customers, and thousands of new charge points as they took over the entire public charging network in Scotland.
- Provide strategy support: help create the roadmap for scaling up the EV charging software’s infrastructure by becoming an integral part of the SWARCO Smart Charging.
The nitty-gritty bits
As the chosen operator for ChargePlace Scotland’s (CPS) national, government-backed rollout of EV charging points, and after working on multiple projects with SWARCO since 2017, SWARCO came to us for support with their latest project in 2020.
With a green mission for a more sustainable future of transport, the SWARCO team partnered with us during the project to manage the influx of chargers and drivers, as well as additional functionality.
The solution:
We built new functionality to improve the original charging software, as well as a white label system, app and dedicated website for CPS’ upgraded infrastructure.
The mobile app fully integrates with the EV charging platform for easy monitoring, reporting and updates. Customers can access their account, charging, and payment information from the app, as well as being able to round up their payment as a donation to CPS’ chosen charity, Trees for Life.
The EV market is fuelled by innovation and cutting-edge technologies, and we wanted to bring this to the drivers’ everyday charging experience. We completed considerable design work to ensure visuals, UX and information architecture were at the forefront of the solutions.
SWARCO had a dedicated Versantus team to see the project through, made up of software developers, system architects, visual UX designers, integration specialists and a project manager. This specialist focused team meant we could get under the hood of SWARCO’s purpose, products and customer-base to provide advice that made commercial sense and aligned with their mission.
