Remember that familiar dashboard in Google Analytics 'Universal'? Back in July 2023, it officially retired, and was replaced by Google Analytics 4 (GA4). While GA4 offers exciting features and future-proof insights, it doesn't magically pull in your historical Universal data.

But wait! Don't panic. You still have access to your precious historical data until July 1st, 2024. That's when Universal Analytics disappears for good, taking your stored visitor insights with it.

So, what are your options?

  1. Wave goodbye to the past: If historical data isn't crucial for your future planning, no need to sweat it. Simply embrace the new with GA4 and move forward.
  2. Download and save your memories: Want to hold onto those valuable old insights? Download your data before July 1st, 2024. Here's how:

Step 1: Head to the Google Analytics Help Center: Follow this link for Google's official guide on Downloading and Exporting Data from Universal Analytics.

Step 2: Choose your export format: Google offers various formats like CSV, TSV, and Google Sheets. Pick the one that best suits your needs.

Step 3: Select the data range and report configuration: Choose the desired timeframe and specific reports you want to export. Don't forget to include essential user metrics and dimensions.

Step 4: Download and archive: Once configured, hit "Export" and safely store your downloaded data file. Remember, this is your only chance to grab it before it's gone!
